Learn To Sail 3 & 6 Night

Learn to Sail the Whitsundays - Eureka IILearn to Sail the Whitsundays - Eureka II

Learn to sail in Australia's premier sailing ground, the Whitsunday Islands with its premier sail training school, the Whitsunday Marine Academy. The Academy is accredited by Yachting Australia and International Yachtmaster Training (IYT), providing Internationally recognised recreational and professional sailing qualifications.

A variety of sailing courses are conducted on the Academy's approved sail training vessel Eureka II while you enjoy the adventure and discovery of a 3 or 6 day cruise through the magnificent waters of the Whitsunday Islands. Numbers are limited (max 13 students) and the focus is on the course syllabus and learning to sail.

On these cruises there is a little less time dedicated to other tourism activities (compared to other Whitsunday cruises) leaving more hands-on time to practice your new found sailing skills.

Introductory 3 day/2 night

This is a fun practical course to introduce participants to the overall running of a yacht and its parts, with an appreciation of safety and regulations. The beginner will be active in all areas on the boat with attention on how to use the equipment during basic manoeuvres. The Introductory Course is undertaken over three days on a learn to sail cruise.

Competent / International Crew 6 day/5 night

These are very comprehensive courses that will give you the skills to become an active crew member of a yacht. The syllabus covers crew skills in the areas of Terminology, Nautical Knowledge, Seamanship, Boat Handling, Engineering, Meteorology, Communication, passage Planning and Navigation. The course length is 6 days 5 nights where you have more time to practice your new found skills and/or you require an internationally recognised IYT certificate.

Your training boat - Eureka II has accommodation for up to 16 persons however we limit our courses to a maximum of 13 students and 2 crew. It is clearly a very good boat to learn to sail being adept in light breezes as well as much stronger conditions when appropriate. Students have commented on the ease of sailing as well as the high speed thrill her fractional rig produces with a little breeze about.

You can complete your Introductory and Competent Crew course as well as enjoy cruising the Whitsunday Coast aboard Eureka II.
