Whitsunday
Rent A Yacht Bareboat Charters have an great range of motor cruises, catamarans
and sailing yachts for boating holidays in the Whitsunday Islands. Perfect
for romantic getaways, family holidays and group sailing adventures. All
the boats are fully equipped, the only items missing are the skipper,
(that's you) and a crew (replaced by family or friends). You don't need
to be an expert; a little experience and some help from the friendly qualified
staff will have you confidently cruising among the Whitsundays in a matter
of hours. how
much is enough experience?
If you can
drive a car, you'll certainly be able to drive a motor boat. No licence
is required to take a Skipper Yourself Boating Holiday. To sail a yacht
or catamaran, you will need some experience at the helm of a yacht, big
or small. A little general boating experience is usually enough for Whitsunday
Rent-A-Yacht to teach you to operate a motor cruiser during your briefing.
For those who are unsure of their skills or a little rusty they offer
the services of a qualified sail guide to help you get started. how
do you prepare us for our trip?
On arrival
at the charter base you will be introduced to your sail briefer. He or
she will give you a thorough overview of all aspects of the operation
of the vessel both below and above decks. Next comes a very comprehensive
Familiarisation on all aspects of navigating through the islands, weather
conditions and suitable anchorages. This is also a good time to enquire
about any specific interests you may have (diving/fishing locations, walking
tracks, island resorts to visit, etc.). Finally you will be taken for
a sail to see that you are fully conversant and confident with the operation
of your vessel. The briefer are all qualified and are happy to provide
your crew with plenty of sailing and boat handling tips and training.
Your vessel briefing normally takes around 3 hours. how
do we provision our vessel?
You may choose
to supply your own provisions, although a provisioning company can do
this for you, catering from gourmet delights to children's meals. Whitsunday
Rent A Yacht chooses the award-winning Whitsunday Provisioning to look
after provisioning. Basic essentials in the galley are supplied (sponges,
matches, detergent, paper towels, insect repellent, garbage bags, toilet
paper, guest soap, air freshener). The nearest supermarket is at Cannonvale,
which is 15 kilometres from the charter base.
