Long Island Resort Whitsundays

Long Island sits just 9 km off the mainland of Shute Harbour and is easily accessible by launch, air, road or rail. One of the most affordable and stunning of the Whitsunday Islands, Long Island has long been considered an attraction within itself.

Towards the south of Long Island is Paradise Bay, a treasure trove of wildlife that can be explored by yacht and is inaccessible to day visitors. A maximum of 20 visitors can spot dolphins, turtles, tropical fish, hundreds of species of birds, goannas, wallabies and more.

Nature lovers will be in their element with Long Island featuring a number of National Park areas with graded walking trails. Depending on your fitness or energy levels you can enjoy the Whitsunday Circuit, a 3.5 km circular trail, the 2.2 km Palm Bay walk or the 5.9 km Sandy Bay Trail. If you’re feeling particularly motivated, why not try them all?

If you prefer a more relaxed pace, there are plenty of shady palm trees to sit under on the beautiful beaches but if you’re looking for a bit of island adventure you can also spend the day parasailing, water skiing, island hopping, cruising, snorkelling, sky diving or playing tennis. Happy and Palm Bays are the closest safe anchorages to Shute Harbour so these are also places popular with the yachties.
